I am in heaven once again. Remember that Tea place I was raving about a couple months..the one that closed down? Well, in it's a place is a new tea garden, just as good...just as pleasant. It's called the Tea Garden and everything is almost the way it was before, almost as if the owners of the last place just wanted to start over. But these are new owners, but they've kept intact everything that made this place so great. There's a beautiful garden out back, plenty of comfortable seats and shade. Some nice fans that keep you cool. A wonderful assortment of teas, in fact, way too many. I just asked the guy behind the bar to give me something cold and berry flavored. I'm drinking something that's only 30 calories (and cost me $5 -- yikes!). There's also some free wifi, which is always nice. The waitresses where some Japanese garb, and the bartenders where orange lapcoats of some sort. Weird, but whatevs.
This is great. You know the troubles I've been having finding a great place to relax away from the apartment. This is perfect I think. For now I just have to find that place near the ocean that I can go to.

Oh, and it's open till Midnight most nights! Awesome! I think I'm gonna spend a lot of time here.
There's this place called Elixir Tonic & Teas on Melrose in West Hollywood. It's by far the best reading/working/meditating/chilling-out spot that I've been to in Los Angeles so far. I love it. It's not that the teas and elixirs (bascially carbonated tea) are so good -- though they are -- it's the backyard seating area that is the greatest. It's a hidden treasure of sorts...lots of shade...comfortable seating areas...a fountain. It's one of those places in Los Angeles you knew had to exist, but could never find. It is truly amazing...and did I mention relaxing?
Anyway, if you've talked to me for more than five seconds you'd know that I've been on the lookout for the greatest coffee shop/cafe in in Los Angeles (tea places like this count!). My criteria usually is 1) good drinks 2) comfortable seats/couches 3) Internet. But now that I have the EVDO card I can get Internet anywhere, so internet is no longer a factor. Well, Elixir Tonics & Teas is my favorite cafe in Los Angeles.
And it's closing down this Thursday.
This is truly heartbreaking. This place is like having an awesome backyard in a fabulous mansion. It's a getaway. I could sleep here all afternoon if I wanted to. But it will no longer be here for me next weekend.
The people here say they're opening down in Newport Beach, and others in Los Angeles sometime this year. I have hard time believe that they'll find a backyard is nice as this, tho.
Here's a crappy video I took of the backyeard on my new Macbook, which actually takes decent videos. I should have saved this video on higher quality.
And it's cold as ice. Hilariously it was 80 degrees last weekend here...same as in Los Angeles. The others here don't seem so cold. Maybe it's because my blood has thinned. I cannot be turning into a Los Angelino pussy. That would be stupid. I'll move back to Chitown before that happens...
I'm looking for an awesome coffee shop, preferably with WiFi in the Los Angeles area. I need somewhere cozy, that reminds me of the days sitting in cafes in Boston all warm and fuzzy and hands wrapped around a book. To date I haven't found anything that I really like. I usually go to the Bourgeouis Pig in Hollywood...but it gets a little annoying there with all the writers sitting around.
I want big couches. I want a socket in the wall for my laptop. I want there to be cute girls. haha.
I've been to Buzz Cafe and didn't like. I only go to Urth to eat. Anyone know of anything cool? I don't care if I have to drive...
